Part 7: The Modern Era (1986-Present) The Vibrant City of Kampala: A Tale of Cultural Exchange and Prosperity since 1375AD

The Modern Era (1986-Present)

The modern era of Uganda began in 1986 when the National Resistance Movement (NRM) took control of the country. The NRM was led by Yoweri Museveni, who has been the president of Uganda since then. Under Museveni's leadership, Uganda has seen a period of relative stability and economic growth.

The NRM has implemented a number of reforms to improve the economy and reduce poverty. These reforms have included liberalizing the economy, reducing government bureaucracy, and encouraging foreign investment. These reforms have helped to create an environment of economic growth and development.

In addition to economic reforms, the NRM has also implemented a number of social reforms. These reforms have included improving access to education, health care, and other social services. These reforms have helped to reduce poverty and improve the quality of life for many Ugandans.

Despite the progress made in the modern era, Uganda still faces many challenges. These include high levels of poverty, corruption, and political instability. In addition, the country is still struggling to recover from the effects of the civil war that occurred in the 1980s.

Despite these challenges, Uganda has made significant progress in the modern era. The country has seen economic growth and development, and has improved access to education, health care, and other social services. This progress has helped to create a more stable and prosperous future for the people of Uganda.
